John Martin and The Southern Drive Band have accomplished many great things since they started.They have opened for big names such as John Berry,Chris Cagle,Pam Tillis,and Asleep at the Wheel.They have also got to meet some really neat people such as Patrick Swayze,and pictured above "Uncle Elroy" from the comedy movie"Next Friday".He also starred in "Friday After Next".He took the stage with John Martin in Atlanta Ga.,as they performed Kenny Rogers' hit song "The Gambler".John said that was the most fun he'd had in quite a while.He said he really enjoyed sharing the stage with him on a country song.He told him to pick any country song he wanted to sing,and they could play it.He picked "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers.John said that he didn't see that coming.The band played as he and Martin sang the song like it was their own.It was a fun filled night!
Southern Drive Band Plays for Troops! John Martin & The Southern Drive band played for the troops aboard the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman naval aircraft carrier in Norfolk,Va. in the summer of 2005.Among those in attendance was Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze.
John Martin to Tour Europe!
Country Entertainer John Martin will head off for his first overseas tour in October of 2008.The singer is well known in the honky tonk bars across the south,and has been seen as an opening act for many country stars.He will now spread his musical talent in the Netherlands,playing in Amsterdam,Holland,Germany and many more places while there.Martin has said that he is excited about the trip and hopes everything goes well while there.
